NARM® Therapy in Vienna & Online
Healing Complex Trauma with a NARM® Master Practitioner
Find connection, authenticity, and wholehearted aliveness - wherever you are in the world.
Complex trauma touches every part of life: how you feel, how you relate, and how you understand yourself.
NARM® (NeuroAffective Relational Model®) is a powerful, evidence-informed therapeutic approach that helps uncover and transform the deep patterns created by developmental trauma, emotional neglect, relational wounds, and lifelong survival strategies.
What is NARM®?
The NeuroAffective Relational Model®
NARM® is a mind–body therapy created to treat Complex Trauma (C-PTSD) and the relational patterns that arise from early emotional wounding. It integrates principles from attachment theory, polyvagal theory, somatic psychology, and psychodynamic approaches.
NARM® helps you:
-
Understand and unwind lifelong survival patterns
-
Reconnect with your true self
-
Reduce shame and self-blame
-
Build emotional regulation and resilience
-
Strengthen your capacity for intimacy, trust, and connection
-
Rediscover a sense of aliveness, presence, and joy
In NARM® therapy, previous survival strategies are acknowledged and explored, while the ability for self-regulation (on both psychological and physical levels) is strengthened. This expands the capacity for contact with self and with others.
Joy of life, strength, vitality, and freedom are rediscovered and become tangible.
How NARM® Therapy works
1. We explore what truly matters to you
Healing begins with a simple, profound question:
“What do you want for yourself?”
This helps uncover authentic desires beneath the layers of survival strategies.
2. We work with both the mind and the body
NARM® combines: Bottom-up awareness: sensations, feelings, & the body’s responses Top-down clarity: thoughts, meaning & emotional understanding
Working with both creates deep, lasting change.
3. We release protective patterns with compassion
These patterns once kept you safe. Now, they may keep you stuck.
NARM® helps gently unravel them without shame.
4. We rebuild your capacity for aliveness
As obstacles soften, people naturally move toward connection, vitality, and inner freedom.
NARM® supports you in rediscovering this innate movement toward health.

The Neuroaffective Relationship Model®, (NARM®)
NARM® is an integrated framework for body and mind that identifies and addresses the complex ways in which childhood trauma can manifest itself in interpersonal difficulties, maladaptive patterns, identity issues and impaired affect regulation.
It was developed by Dr. Laurence Heller, PhD psychologist and psychotherapist with many years of clinical experience. NARM® combines ideas from attachment theory, polyvagal theory, Gestalt therapy, cognitive and somatic approaches, and psychodynamic approaches.
